This design is based on the mission patch for the famous Apollo 13 space mission.

Apollo 13 was the 3rd NASA spaceflight that was intended to land on the moon, launched in 1973. The lunar landing was aborted after an oxygen tank exploded two days into the mission forcing the crew to survive in the lunar module. With makeshift repairs the crew returned to Earth safely 6 days after launch.
